MISSION STATEMENT:

ARTICLE ONE: NAME, PURPOSE AND MEMBERS

SECTION 1.1 NAME: The name of the organization is Hmong Georgia Community, Inc. (the “Corporation”) 

SECTION 1.2 NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION: The Corporation shall be operated as a nonprofit corporation under the provisions of the State of Georgia Nonprofit Corporation Code. 

SECTION 1.3 MEMBERS: The Corporations shall have no members. 

SECTION 1.4 PURPOSE: This Corporation is organized for charitable and educational purposes within the meaning of section 501(c) 3 of the Internal Revenue code and shall be operated with the below purposes:

 

Purpose 1: Provide resettlement assistance to Hmong immigrants. 

Provide tutoring for adult education focusing on speaking English.
Provide resource and guidance for obtaining vocational skills and securing employment.
Provide resources for relocation and housing needs.
Provide interpretation and translation needs to non-English speaking Hmong in events such as: doctor visits, parent teacher conference or any official business as needed. 

Purpose 2: To educate younger Hmong generations on substance abuse and preventative measures guarding against substance abuse. 

Offer after school programs on substance abuse and preventions. Provide resource and counseling to Hmong families with substance abuse by engaging with public community programs for assistance. 

Purpose 3: To preserve and share Hmong cultural heritage, arts and literacy. 

Provide workshop to illustrate and teach Hmong cultures. Provide classes to teach reading and writing in Hmong. Hold community events periodically to display Hmong arts, Hmong ritual shows and important Hmong artifacts to the public. 

Purpose 4: To promote culture interchange and enhanced relationship between Hmong society and local communities and citizens. 

Attend and participate in local town hall meetings and public community events. Proactively volunteering and supporting local community work or projects. Cross-sharing of ideas and activities with other community leaders and members. 

Purpose 5: To help resolve general disputes within the Hmong communities that may involve Hmong Clans, relatives, parent and children, husbands and wives. 

Coordinate counseling and dispute settlement through Hmong Clan leaders. Educate and share legal consequences that may result if dispute is not resolved in an appropriate manner. Provide resources for external legal assistance and mediation to resolve disputes.
